Response to documentary

Even though I wasn’t in class Monday, I did have a chance to watch the video on my own time. I found it interesting that Freud’s cousin could show people and different groups how to persuade and make people change their ideas of “wanting and needing” certain things. Everything is mental and if people can persuade others to buy items when they aren’t necessary then they are doing a good job with their work. It isn’t always easy to alter people’s ways of reasoning.

He was able to create advertisements to reel in the mass media on certain products and through his work he showed everyone how powerful his ideas and ways were based on the outcome of his efforts. Now a days it is hard to avoid annoying advertisements that seem to pull you right in and create you to change your mind of buying something you really don’t need. Unfortunately I believe this will continue to happen because for the companies, there isn’t a reason to change if they continue to have the same outcome of success.
