glamour

According to the textbook, Glamour is best described by creating a fantasy world where every ones bodies are ideal and consumers lifestyles are perfect but only because they have purchased a certain product that will allegedly make their reality become glamorized. Advertisers trick their consumers into thinking that if they purchase the product they are trying to sell, they too will have an amazing and glamorous life.

In the movie that we viewed in class, glamour was represented in various ways.  The main character, Richard E. Grant has a leisurely lifestyle, living the dream of an advertising executive. He has a nice house with a beautiful wife. Sometimes that may not always be the case with someone who is highly respected or with someone who holds a high position in a company. Also, he is trying to glamorize a product that isn’t really glamorous at all.
